Second Life Documentary: Alter Ego

Director and Writer Shelley Matulick has been working on a documentary film [machinima] titled Alter Ego. As far as I can gather, the film is a series of in-depth vignettes of Second Life user’s lives — on and offline.

The film has been in the works for a little under a year and currently there is no scheduled release date. The poster was just recently released. We will keep you posted with the release of the film and hopefully a trailer….

I think that the issue with this is that you would have to see your real body die from a virtual platform. This is the only way conciousness can truly be transferred. The truth is that there is no way to know if your conciousness got transferred without acknowladging your physical conciousness dying.

At very least I think that this has to happen to the first test subject in order to prove or disprove this success.

If this is possible, than virtual life will become a truly tangible world. Great People of our modern era will be able to socialize with people for 1000’s of years and possibly advance the physical world. Even if humanity comes to an end, our civilization can continue through a digital conciousness. I would just be wary of computer viruses :-)
